The Boat Race centenary, by Richard T Cooper, 1929

The Boat Race Centenary designed by Richard T. Cooper for the Underground Group in 1929 gets onlookers right alongside the legendary Thames Boat Race as athletes row with all their might. The excitement from the crown is instantly felt as onlookers shout on their favourites from the banks of the Thames. This informative poster lets riders of the Underground know about ‘Nearest stations – Putney Bridge, Hammersmith, Ravenscourt Park, Turnham Green & Chiswick Park.

Richard T. Cooper was born in 1884 and educated at Tonbridge School before pursuing studies in art in Paris at Jullien’s Atelier. After the First World War Cooper became a poster artist, his works are noted for their historical detail. Between 1924- 1935 Richard T. Cooper designed posters for the Underground Group. Richard T. Cooper died in 1957.

To make a return, please follow our instructions below:

1. Send an email to [email protected] within 14 days of receiving your goods to notify us of the return.
2. Return the item(s) to the address below within 28 days of receiving the item/s. Please make sure to include your order number. Clothing items which are being returned due to incorrect sizing can be returned opened as long they are unworn, and the tags are attached.
3. The return shipment cost must be paid by you and will not be covered by the London Transport Museum, unless the item is faulty. We would recommend that you use recorded delivery.
4. Once the returned item/s has been received and processed by our warehouse, we will issue you a refund within 14 working days.
