New entrances, new ticket halls, escalators; Chancery Lane, by Charles W Baker, 1934

This poster was published by London Transport in 1934 to publicise the modernisation work which had been carried out at Chancery Lane station. The illustration was designed by Charles W Baker and shows a view of looking from Holburn towards Holburn Viaduct. The cut-out in the road, as shown I the poster, illustrates the location of the new station below ground. The station is represented by a series of tunnels that house the escalators and platform. The redesigned station included a new booking hall and new escalators. It also delivered connecting platforms which led to four new station entrances.

The poster gives an interesting picture of the view from Holburn to Holburn Viaduct in 1934.The artist was Charles W Baker who designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport between 1924 and 1934.

To make a return, please follow our instructions below:

1. Send an email to [email protected] within 14 days of receiving your goods to notify us of the return.
2. Return the item(s) to the address below within 28 days of receiving the item/s. Please make sure to include your order number. Clothing items which are being returned due to incorrect sizing can be returned opened as long they are unworn, and the tags are attached.
3. The return shipment cost must be paid by you and will not be covered by the London Transport Museum, unless the item is faulty. We would recommend that you use recorded delivery.
4. Once the returned item/s has been received and processed by our warehouse, we will issue you a refund within 14 working days.
