About the L98 Pannier Tank:

In the 1950s, London Transport faced challenges maintaining an ageing fleet of engineering steam locomotives. To address this, in 1956/57, LT received two former Great Western Railway (GWR) 0-6-0 Pannier Tank engines from the Western Region of British Railways. Successful trials led to the acquisition of a further eleven Pannier Tanks by London Transport between 1958 and 1963, numbered from L89 to L99.

Use of steam on works trains began to wind down in the 1960s. The steam era ended symbolically on 6 June 1971, with a commemorative run on the Metropolitan line by an engineering train hauled by L94 from Moorgate to Neasden Depot.

This exclusive London Transport Museum model depicts London Transport L98, originally GWR 7739, built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow in 1930. It joined the LT engineering fleet in late 1962 and was broken up at LT Neasden works in 1970.

To make a return, please follow our instructions below:

1. Send an email to [email protected] within 14 days of receiving your goods to notify us of the return.
2. Return the item(s) to the address below within 28 days of receiving the item/s. Please make sure to include your order number. Clothing items which are being returned due to incorrect sizing can be returned opened as long they are unworn, and the tags are attached.
3. The return shipment cost must be paid by you and will not be covered by the London Transport Museum, unless the item is faulty. We would recommend that you use recorded delivery.
4. Once the returned item/s has been received and processed by our warehouse, we will issue you a refund within 14 working days.
