The purpose of the poster was to encourage leisure travel to the areas now known as Greater London during off-peak times. Such posters were prominently displayed at station entrances and on the trains themselves.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe artist was Edward McKnight Kauffer who was born in Montana, USA in 1890. He studied art in San Francisco and Paris before travelling to London in 1914.
